Families

At Family Spirit, we acknowledge and respect birth families
We believe in working hard to keep families together during times of stress and difficulty.
When circumstances are too problematic to keep a child at home, we are committed to continuing to support birth families and facilitate their ongoing role in their child’s life.

Every family matters
However, during particularly stressful, difficult times, it may not be in a child’s best interest to stay with their birth family.
In those situations, a carer or guardian can step in. They provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment for a young person who has experienced challenges and trauma in their family life.
Keeping close connections
With the support of Family Spirit, families can maintain relationships with their children – and their adoptive parents, carers or guardians – to help ensure positive outcomes for the child or young person.
Everyday people doing extraordinary things
Families come in all shapes and sizes. Whatever the age and stage, foster carers have one thing in common – a genuine heart to help.
We are so grateful for all our parents, carers and guardians.
Together, we can change the lives of young people across Sydney.

Children & Young People
Every child deserves a safe home—a place where they feel secure, sheltered and protected.
More than that, a home should also be somewhere children and young people can thrive.
That’s why we work closely with families to ensure children are nurtured in safe, stable and supportive environments, where they are cared for and can grow to be strong, independent adults.

Adoptive Parents
If you’re thinking about adopting a child or a young person, there are many options to consider, depending on what’s best for your family.
Family Spirit adoption experts can guide you through every aspect of the (sometimes bumpy) experience, helping you give a child the life they deserve.
