As we approach the Easter holiday weekend most of us will be looking forward to spending time with friends and family. But this may not be the case for many vulnerable children and young people in Sydney. Children just like Stephen and Sophie, who are in need of safe and secure homes.
Stephen: Eleven-year-old Stephen is an active young man who has a permanent foster care family who love and care for him. Stephen needs a part-time carer who can become an important part of his support network. We are looking for someone who is understanding and will not give up when things get tough.
Sophie: Ten-year-old Sophie loves gymnastics and playing soccer. Sophie needs a permanent place to call home with a person or family who will support her to stay in contact with her siblings and family and will guide her through high school and into young adulthood.
To help respond to the needs of Stephen, Sophie and other children and young people like them, Family Spirit hold regular information sessions designed for individuals or couples who are interested in finding out about becoming foster carers.
As one of our carers says, “Take the chance, you should at least go to an information session, because that’s where you hear about the children, their needs and about the type of carer you can be.”
